First of All!
Congrats to Ed Schultz and MSNBC for now having three progressives on their station!
It's very encouraging for the progressive movement.
As for the "dying of the newspapers"--I don't think that's such a tragedy except for those people losing their jobs--obviously!
But lets face it --in the face of Global Climate Change--it isn't all bad--just think of all the trees that are going to be spared and how good that will be for the general well-being of the planet!
My being of the age where newspapers have always been read--even now I have them delivered---but I think--in this time of technology--we can certainly do without them, since we do have other means of communication.
In fact I think it's a natural progression to switch to online publications in so many ways.
What is tragic to me --is that there are so few really excellent reporters these days --especially in the papers--and that is something that we progressive bloggers already have a handle on--so to speak--so lets continue to do our best to get the truth out there!

Agreed. Since the media ownership laws were changed to allow big corporations to buy up most of the newspapers, they have lost a lot of their value anyway. The internet has been taking over the job of newspapers for years, and it is just a natural progression that the papers die off and give way to "digital print." Perhaps we'll see the major papers doing daily publications which, for a small fee, can be sent directly to those hand-held reader devices that are gaining popularity, such as the Sony Reader and Amazon Kindle.
ReplyDeleteI bet that will happen--although the latest design of the Kindle sells for around $900--so most will have to wait until they become more affordable. I saw Jeff Bezos on with Jon Stewart--showing it off not long ago-it can hold a huge number of books or other printed matter--like thousands of them--which is why it's so expensive--I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment --it's much appreciated.
That's funny after writing my comment--I noticed an ad directly under my photo for a Kindle 2 and it's only $359 --I wonder if it's a different version?
