For Earth Day-- Day 459 in the Age of Obama

I am the earth
Oil is my blood
Minerals are my veins
Everything taken from my body leaves me weak -and weaker day by day lately
From now on I use new rules
Every time you take too much from me
I will take a lot from you
The tectonic plates have run dry after five billion years
My blood consumed in a few blinks of an eye, after so long
For centuries you have given me your dead,
Replenishing my needs in the process without ever realizing how things work
Now you’ll learn
You call them tsunamis—I call it fishing for tasty human meat
